Analysis for Induction

Production: Filming our video didn’t go to plan, we had a lot of issues as this was our first time using a camera’s manual controls. We had various issues with lighting on set and didn’t utilise any artificial lighting to sort the issue, as a result our footage came out grainy and unpleasing because of the ISO being so high. We also had personnel issues as one of our members was absent and very unreliable and various people kept walking in shot and making us restart.

Post-production: Our problem in post-production was sound and matching sounds to actions. We struggled with the door knocks and choosing music that fit the video better. We had to edit the colour in some of our footage as despite being filmed in the same room had a slight lighting error in one of them.

Continuity: One major issue with keeping continuity was the weather on the first day of filming. Constantly changing between rain and sun made our shots look completely different despite being filmed within two minutes of each other. This made us restart the entirety of filming the next lesson as it wasn’t raining anymore. One slight inconsistency is the deliveryman’s walk in the cut from the close-up of his legs. You can tell his walk doesn’t quite line up with the door. So next time we would  have the deliveryman stay in place while we change the camera location to pan, then just cut the start of his walk so it lines up an looks flush.

Conclusion: We struggled a fair amount as it was a first time for all of us using the camera and software for editing. In the future I feel we can make a drastic improvement to using artificial lighting and camera manual settings when filming, along with spotting slight continuity errors and preventing them. Next time we should also take more time on sound effects and music as it was a weak point of the final product, our music doesn't fit the mood of the film and the door knock is slightly too loud for the soft knock that is shown.
